Back in 2014, if someone said that Dougie Hamilton would help revive a scoring problem for the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, it'd be safe to assume he'd be manning the point in a black and gold uniform.
Wrong.
On Thursday night, Hamilton, now of the Carolina Hurricanes, took a penalty for roughing just 15 seconds after the Bruins tied the game on the power play. Thirteen seconds later, Hamilton would leave the box with the score no longer tied and the Bruins in the lead.

— Shayna (@hayyyshayyy) May 10, 2019Less than three minutes later, Hamilton went back to the sin bin, this time for interference. Hamilton said after the game that he didn't think either play was a penalty, and noted that the calls helped kill any momentum the Hurricanes had.
"I just watched both of them, so I didn't agree with either, so not much else to say," said Hamilton of both penalties he took in the third period. "The game's over now, and nothing we can do about it now."
The penalties prompted the TD Garden faithful to mockingly chant "Dou-gie! Dou-gie!".
"I mean I don't really care," said Hamilton when asked about the chants. "I've been chanted, they've chanted my name before, so for me, it is what it is. Obviously, unfortunate that I was in the box and taking those penalties, and I mean, it's playoff hockey. That's what you expect."
