When the Celtics announced that four roster moves had been made Thursday afternoon, there was one transaction that stole most of the attention.
Boston has signed Tacko Fall.
The team officially announced it has signed Tremont Waters and Max Strus to two-way contracts, in addition to signing Javonte Green and Fall.
Fall was a Summer League sensation for the Celtics, winning fans over right from the moment he first stood up from the bench. At 7-foot-6, the center averaged 7.2 points, four rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 12.6 minutes per game during Summer League. He played four years at UCF where he averaged 10.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game during his collegiate career. Though as a Dakar, Senegal native, Fall did not start playing the sport until about six years ago. The Globe's Adam Himmelsbach reports that Fall's deal is still an Exhibit 10 contract.
Green, 26, had played overseas with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, where he averaged 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.3 steals in 51 games. With the Celtics this summer, he started three of the five games, where he averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 steals. In the game against Memphis on July 13, he finished with a Summer League-high of 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Strus produced 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and two assists on average over the four games he played in with the Celtics during the Summer League. Prior to that, the Hickory Hills, Illinois native spent two years at DePaul University. During the 2018-19 season, Stus was ranked third in the Big East after scoring 20.1 points per game. He also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.9 percent from the field, and 36.3 percent from beyond the arc.
