Could Marcus Smart end up in Dallas?
According to a report from DallasBasketball.com, the Mavs are considering a run at the Dallas native in free agency, but only at the right price. From Mike Fisher's report:
An NBA source tells DallasBasketball.com that depending on Smart's asking price, the Mavs can be expected to explore pursuing the 6-4 guard, a defense-first battler who scores 10 points per game for a Celtics team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Smart is already on record that he believes he's worth more than $12-$14 million a year, as he told ESPN after the Game 7 loss to the Cavaliers. But with money tight this summer across the league, he could be looking at offers in the $8-$10 million range.
Smart was raised in Flower Rock, Texas, 25 miles north of Dallas.
He has also been linked to the Kings, Pacers, and Nuggets, according to Yahoo's Chris Mannix.
