Now that it looks like Richard Sherman will be a free man, could a relocation to New England be in his future?

The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe thinks so.

Appearing on NBC Sports Boston, Howe said that Sherman "absolutely wants to play for the Patriots. So he's going to be on the short list."

Sherman's interest in the Pats make sense, especially on a short-term deal to prove he's healthy following a pair of Achilles' injuries. Howe was pressed on Sherman coming here by host Mike Giardi.

"There is a lot of intrigue from that side of the country," Howe said. "I can't tell you it's his No. 1 option, but I can tell you since last year that Richard Sherman has been absolutely intrigued about playing for the Patriots."

The 29-year-old four-time All-Pro would represent an upgrade on Malcolm Butler, who is expected to depart in free agency, but only if his heels have healed. In any event, expect the Sherman-to-New England rumors to only gather steam in the next week, especially with another potential New England target, Aqib Talib, traded to the Rams.
