So much for Trent Murphy.
The Redskins outside linebacker, considered a target of Bill Belichick, spurned the Patriots to sign a three-year, $21 million contract with the Bills, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Murphy was considered an intriguing fit in New England as a pass rusher. He hasn't played since 2016 because of a torn ACL, and he was also suspended for four games last April because of performance-enhancing drugs.
His last full season caught the eye, however, as he recorded nine sacks. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder played at Stanford alongside Patriots Jordan Richards and Cam Fleming.
Now he'll play the Patriots twice a year in Buffalo.
