Sirius XM's and former WFAN host Christopher 'Mad Dog' Russo is speaking for much of America when assessing the Patriots 16-year run of success this morning on Kirk and Callahan: We've had enough.
As unappetizing as it would have been to have the Jaguars as the AFC representative in Super Bowl LII, Russo said he rooted for Jacksonville in the AFC Championship Game.
"The big issue outside of your part of the country. There is a lot of Patriot fatigue," he said. "It's like the Yankees in the 1990s. I've had enough. I'm bored.
"The Patriots have the best combination of coach and quarterback in the history of the NFL. Their head coach is so much better than any other coach in the league. They have such an advantage, it's a surprise they don't win every year."
Notably not a big fan of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Russo did not like the way he handled his interview Monday morning on K&C, when Brady abruptly ending his call after receiving word that WEEI.com's Alex Reimer made a disparaging remark about Brady's daughter.
"He's been with you guys for what, 16 years? Would he do that to Jim Gray? Not a chance in America!" Russo said. "He owes you two a spot. Write a note to EEI asking for an apology and let it go. It bothered the heck out of me. I did not like the way (Brady) played it. It's not Gerry or Kirk's fault. He should have said, 'I owe these two guys my allegiance and my presence.'"
Russo hasn't seen Brady's docuseries 'Tom vs. Time,' and added he wouldn't watch it if it was "in my backyard."
"I'm Brady'd out," he said. "Let ESPN handle those things. I prefer to see things that way over something that’s hand-picked and avoid of anything controversial."
As for his pick for the big game come Sunday, Russo said he wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles upset the Patriots, citing that it might just be the Eagles' time.
"Outside of the quarterback and the coach, (Philadelphia) is bigger, stronger and faster."
Take it for what you will, as Mad Dog noted he is 1-9 against the spread in the postseason this year but he would take the points with the Eagles.
