On his WFAN afternoon drive show last week, Bart Scott revealed NFL players used to taunt Aaron Hernandez about being a murderer.

During “The Afternoon Drive with Carlin, Bart, and Maggie,” the former Jets linebacker said the possibility at the time that Hernandez was a killer was a “running joke” and players knew Hernandez “was in a gang.”

“As players, we used to always mess with Hernandez when we were on the field and say, ‘Hey man, I heard they found the body.’ We thought it was a joke because we knew something had happened in Florida,” Scott said. “So the whole running joke was ‘I heard they found the body.’ We all knew that he was a bad guy. There had been stories floating with this guy for years. … They knew he was a bad guy.”

Scott also said Hernandez wasn’t bothered by the comments.

“He was a funny guy,” Scott said.
