Donald Trump tweeted out his own proposal on Friday night for how the NFL should punish players who kneel during the pregame national anthem.
He believes the punishment for a first-time kneeler should be a one-game suspension, while a player who kneels a second time should be suspended for a season without pay.
"The NFL National Anthem Debate is alive and well again - can't believe it! Isn't it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!," Trump tweeted.
Trump recently went after Roger Goodell for the NFL low TV ratings, telling a crowd at a Montana rally, "This Commissioner, where this guy comes from I have no [idea]. They're paying him $40 million a year, and their ratings are down 20 percent."
