-- The public memorial service for Kobe Bryant has been set for the very appropriate date of Feb. 24.
The Staples Center will host the service, which comes after weeks of tributes to Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who were killed in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26.
Memorials created by the public around Los Angeles were cleaned up recently and over a thousand basketballs were among the items dedicated to Bryant and Gianna.
-- Eli Manning is kicking off his retirement the right way: with a round of golf at Pebble Beach.
Manning, who retired from the NFL last month, played in the pro-am with his brother Peyton, along with Luke Donald and Kevin Chappell.
And Aaron Rodgers, who walked in one of his putts.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "While there is some familiarity with Flores and Ross, there's a lot of unknowns with Miami. Its biggest allure is the potential to add pieces with all the money it has to spend, but is that something Miami wants to do? The Dolphins seemed to be building something beginning last season and adding Brady and others would be a shift in mentality. Miami doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense right now." -- Ryan Hannable, on why Tom Brady will not go to the Dolphins
