AROUND THE WEB:
-- WFAN host Joe Benigno will be back on the air on Monday despite being the subject of a sexual harassment lawsuit.
WFAN announced on Thursday Benigno will return from his vacation next week after he was accused last week in a lawsuit of sexually harassing a former female ad executive. The suit claims he pressured her into having threesomes multiple times.
Benigno is the co-host of WFAN’s midday show with Evan Roberts.
Roberts addressed the situation to open Thursday’s show but said he can’t talk about the lawsuit.
“I know, OK, you know there is a big story out there,” Roberts said. “I’m aware of it. But as you probably guessed, if you use your brain, I cannot talk about it. It is a story that involves the courts, the legal process. I do know the company is dealing with it, and I can’t add anything personally. So we know that, so if you call in about it, you understand there’s nothing I can say. So, I’m not going to play stupid. We’re not all idiots. We understand that’s out there. I cannot talk about it.”
“But what I will do, and I’ve said this before many times over the years, is we’re going to do a sports show and sports is a distraction,” Roberts continued. “That’s what it is and that’s what we’re going to do.”
The lawsuit also names CBS Radio, which sold WFAN last year.
