AROUND THE WEB:

-- Tom Brady appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night and discussed his salary, competitiveness, working out at UCLA and staying in shape.

Kimmel asked the Patriots quarterback why he has a relatively low salary and Brady said his wife, Gisele Bundchen, has something to do with that.

"That's a good question. That's usually, when I don't want to answer a question, I always say, 'That's a good question,'" Brady said. "I think the thing I've always felt for me in my life, winning has been a priority. And my wife makes a lot of money."

"I'm a little smarter than you think," he continued. "Actually, it's a salary cap. You can only spend so much and the more that one guy gets is less for others. And for a competitive advantage standpoint, I like to get a lot of good players around me."

Kimmel also asked Brady about working so hard on his game year-round.

"You do know it's the offseason, right?," Kimmel joked about Brady working out at UCLA recently.

"I feel like I always want to be ready to go," Brady said. "I can actually go enjoy myself if I'm in game shape. It wouldn't take me too long to get ready. But to have the ability to do that in the offseason and keep things sharp is still important to me."

"I think definitely (I'm trying) to improve," he said. "I feel like after all these years, there's a certain feeling you get when you throw the perfect pass. I'm sure that's like that in other careers, but when you're really on, you're nailing it, you want to repeat it."

Brady also said he is not tired of playing the quarterback position "to this point."

"To be at the top of give your team a chance to win every season, you have to put a lot into it. I try to bring my best everyday," Brady said. "I try to be the best teammate, leader and also physically to stay prepared. No one wants someone that's taking up space."

Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday's @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Anything serious that you're dealing with your health is something that is real concerning. But he has great help and doctors are going to take great care of him. They said he's resting now and he's going to make a full recovery. He's got to get his rest and continue to recover." -- Marcus Smart, on Danny Ainge suffering a mild heart attack while in Milwaukee
