FRIDAY’S BROADCAST HIGHLIGHTS:MLB: LA Dodgers at Milwaukee, 8:09 p.m. (FS1)

AROUND THE WEB:

-- Luis Severino had a disastrous outing in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Red Sox and now the Yankees think they know why.

Those within the organization believe Severino was tipping pitches during the Red Sox’ 16-1 win over the Yankees, with a source telling Jon Heyman, “The Red Sox had his pitches.”

“Yankees people say they heard the ‘chatter’ from Red Sox people about (Severino’s) pitch tipping, and they all seem to believe there was something to it,” the source added.

WEEI’s own Lou Merloni also mentioned the possibility of this during the broadcast.

.@LouMerloni just nailed it. Red Sox had a beat on what was coming as early as the second inning. JBJ says "Fastball..." to Mookie before an 0-2 pitch to Holt, Severino pumps in 98 MPH fastball that Holt fouls away. pic.twitter.com/wLGR5dVDys

It looks here as if Jackie Bradley Jr. said “fastball” into his hand.

Severino gave up six earned runs to the Red Sox on seven hits in three-plus innings pitched in the rough loss for the Yankees.

-- As Colin Kaepernick accepted the W.E.B Du Bois Medal from Harvard’s Hutchins Center for African & American Research on Thursday, the event’s live stream showed this message: “Due to the current litigation of W.E.B. Du Bois medalist Colin Kaepernick. No press photography or video livestream will be allowed of his remarks.”

Kaepernick had asked ahead of time that his remarks not be broadcast or recorded.

However, a transcript was available after the event.

Kaepernick requested that the media not record or broadcast his speech, however he did allow his remarks to be on the record. So here is what he said: pic.twitter.com/KewUJJp0iB

“If we all believe in something, we won’t have to sacrifice everything,” Kaepernick said in his remarks. “And in thinking about the initiation of this protest, this stance, and where we’re at currently, I go back to something I said in a speech previously, that love is at the root of our resistance, and it will continue to be, and it will fortify everything that we do.”

It was reported before the event that Kaepernick requested his remarks be off the record entirely, but Harvard then clarified they would be considered on the record but no recording or streaming would be allowed.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I saw him last year, I think it was Father's Day, he pitched against Houston in Houston and he pitched well. I saw him in the playoffs against the Astros. He pitched well. This year, he pitched in Houston that Saturday, he pitched well against them. He pitched here against the Astros, and pitched well again so I know how good he is. I know he's pitched well against them. I trust the guy." -- Alex Cora, on why he’s starting David Price in Game 2 of the ALCS
