Kyrie Irving and Timberwolves shooting guard Jimmy Butler are reportedly "trying to figure out a way to play together" for an Eastern Conference team.
Both players will be unrestricted free agents next summer if they decline their respective player options.
This news comes on the heels of LeBron James departing the Eastern Conference for the Lakers earlier this week.
Butler and Irving were Team USA teammates in 2016 and even sang a Vanessa Carlton song together on the team plane.
Irving said last month an extension with the Celtics "contractually, financially just doesn't make any sense."
