AROUND THE WEB:

-- Julian Edelman is reportedly set to appeal his four-game drug suspension on Monday morning and is said to be mounting a  "vigorous defense" regarding how his case was handled. Multiple outlets reported earlier this month that Edelman faces a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.

It was reported days later the substance for which Edelman tested positive wasn't one the NFL drug testers recognized, which is one of the two main issues at the core of Edelman's appeal.

The other issue has to do with the mishandling of the documentation and delivery of Edelman's test results. During the investigation it was reportedly discovered that the NFL made mistakes in handling the test results and Edelman will argue this is one of the reasons he should not have to serve a suspension.

-- Aaron Hernandez's former fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, gave birth to a baby girl in a Rhode Island hospital on June 16.

Jenkins-Hernandez announced her pregnancy last month, saying "I couldn't be a luckier woman to have such a perfect little girl that's prepared to become the best big sister, and even more blessed to welcome another babygirl to our home."

Jenkins-Hernandez has a daughter, Avielle,  with Hernandez and some believed Hernandez was also the father of this second child, even though he committed suicide in prison in April of last year.

The actual father is reportedly Dino Guilmette, an amateur boxer from Providence.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I just wanted to come out here, I didn't want to look stupid in front of these guys. I wanted to make a good impression and trying to be myself around them and they welcomed me with open arms, so I'm really happy they welcomed me so graciously." -- Red Sox first-round pick Triston Casas, on taking batting practice at Fenway on Saturday
