AROUND THE WEB:

-- Kobe Bryant won an Oscar on Sunday night for his short film, Dear Basketball, and received a range of reactions on social media.

While NBA players praised and congratulated the retired Laker, there were many who found his win hypocritical considering Bryant was arrested and charged with sexual assault in 2003 and won the award in the middle of the #MeToo movement.

"Congrats to KOBE first Oscar that's big bro #dearbasketball. Proud of you, Big honor for you and your family. I'm jealous lol," Shaquille O'Neal tweeted.

"Props to #BlackMamba b-ball titles Oscars what's next," Paul Pierce tweeted.

"Congratulations to @kobebryant on his Oscar for #DearBasketball way to go Kid!  Very proud, Never #ShutUpAndDribble @Oscars_2018live @NBA #OscarSunday," Bill Russell tweeted.

Others were not so happy for him:

"Time's up but not for Kobe!," Roxane Gay tweeted.

"Kobe Bryant just won an Oscar. Rape accusations really do ruin a man's career. #Oscars" -- Renee Bracey Sherman‏

"Kobe Bryant gets the biggest cheer for coming into the interview room. GROSS #Complicit  #oscars" -- Melissa Silverstein

"So we're all just... ignoring the whole Kobe rape accusation thing I guess huh?," Dana Schwartz tweeted.

-- LaVar Ball responded to an ESPN report on Friday that said Donald Trump didn't have a big role in the release of LiAngelo Ball and his former UCLA teammates after they were caught shoplifting in China.

"Thank you for what again @realDonaldTrump," LaVar tweeted.

LaVar refused to thank the president after his son was released from China, which led to a back and forth between Trump and LaVar over whether or not the Ball family should thank Trump for helping in the release.

Trump has yet to respond to LaVar this time.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about that game. I'm pretty sure everybody on our team feels the same way. The only thing you can do is just learn from it -- what put us in position to lose that game and how to never do that again."" -- Duron Harmon, on the Patriots' Super Bowl LII loss
