-- The U.S. Women’s hockey team beat Team Canada early Thursday morning to win gold for the first time since 1998.
Team USA’s Jocelyne Lamoureux scored a triple-deke goal in the sixth round of a shootout for the 3-2 victory over Canada.
This win also came 38 years to the day after the men’s famous “Miracle on Ice” win over Russia.
"It is everything for our country," said U.S. coach Robb Stauber. "I am just so thankful for the outcome. It was a thrilling final. It was unreal."
"I can't put it into words," said defenseman Kacey Bellamy. "This whole year is for everyone that came before us. This is for Julie Chu (former USA team captain) and for all our families at home, the schools that we went to, everyone supporting us."

February 22, 2018 -- The NCAA has vacated Louisville’s 2013 men's basketball championship win and former coach Rick Pitino has a decision to make about the back tattoo he got to celebrate the win.
Pitino had promised his team in 2013 if they won he would get a tattoo and he came through after the victory.

April 26, 2013 But now with the win vacated because of a sex scandal involving players, recruits and prostitutes, will Pitino, who was fired last year after an unrelated recruiting scandal, get his tattoo removed?
Pitino’s tattoo artist Adam Potts of Tattoo Salvation in Louisville commented on what Pitino might do about it.
"We don't do tattoo removal," said Potts. "At all. On anybody. But we do do cover-ups, where we do a new tattoo essentially over the top of an existing tattoo so that you can't see the existing tattoo anymore. We do those all the time. Usually have a lot of fun with them. We'd be happy to help with whatever he wanted to do just like any other customer."
"Something that's still Louisville related would be cool, maybe just the city as a whole," he said of how Pitino could cover the tattoo. "Thinking he might not be too into the university right now. A lot of times animals are a good go to. I'd imagine a cardinal is probably out of the question for him at this point. Maybe a nice thoroughbred racing horse."
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “It's honestly a pleasure playing in Boston. Yeah, there are tough times if you're not playing well. You're going to hear about it. But what's wrong with that? Who doesn't want to hear about it? Because when you are playing well, it feels like you've got the entire world behind you, and that's all you can ask for as a player. That's fair.” --
