AROUND THE WEB:
-- The Eagles responded on Monday night to Donald Trump disinviting the team to the White House, saying the organization is looking forward to preparing for the 2018 season.
"Watching the entire Eagles community come together has been an inspiration," the team statement read. "We are truly grateful for all of the support we have received and we are looking forward to continuing our preparations for the 2018 season,” the team tweeted.

June 5, 2018 Wide receiver Torrey Smith also responded on Twitter:
So many lies smhHere are some facts1. Not many people were going to go2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem 3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military pic.twitter.com/89GUNhJ4eE

June 4, 2018 “There are a lot of people on the team that have plenty of different views,” Smith also tweeted. “The men and women that wanted to go should’ve been able to go. It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you. To make it about the anthem is foolish.”
If you are going to tweet...tweet facts...no one on the Eagles took a knee last season.......... https://t.co/7aiTuvVKe8

June 5, 2018 Philadelphia’s mayor, Jim Kenney, invited the Eagles to City Hall for a celebration:
I’m proud of the Eagles on & off the field. Our players represent the diversity of our nation—a nation where we're free to express our opinions. Disinviting them only proves the President is not a true patriot.City Hall is always open for a celebration. https://t.co/kU7LZkBNin

June 5, 2018 And his chief of staff, Jane Slusser, tweeted a shot at Trump:

June 5, 2018 Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania responded by inviting the Eagles to visit Capitol Hill:
I’m proud of what the @Eagles accomplished this year. I’m skipping this political stunt at the White House and just invited the Eagles to Congress. @Eagles How about a tour of the Capitol? https://t.co/niWR7zkSYx
— Senator Bob Casey (@SenBobCasey)
June 4, 2018 As did Rep. Brendan Boyle:
The @Eagles are still welcome to visit the US Capitol. I will have @Wawa coffee waiting. https://t.co/Ts41v7GBGn

June 4, 2018 -- Johnny Damon is excited about the reignited Red Sox-Yankees rivalry but he made it clear he’s not rooting for Boston.
Damon, who played for both teams and was a Red Sox hero after helping the team win the World Series in 2004, has had a rocky relationship with the Red Sox since 2005 and it seems like it’s still a little icy.
"They're bringing back the rivalry that we had in the early 2000s and it's going to be a fun year," Damon told TMZ. "I'll be rooting for New York."
During his appearance on the Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump in 2015, Damon said he and John Henry were not on speaking terms after contract drama in 2005.
Henry then responded by saying Damon is “always welcome at Fenway” and Damon responded to that by saying there are “no hard feelings.”
Yet he’s still rooting for the Yankees and still has a mohawk.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “Honestly, I feel like I’m the best tight end in the league in all phases. Blocking, run blocking, catching the ball, breaking tackles, stuff like that. At the end of the day, if you don’t feel like that you shouldn’t be in the league.” --
Delanie Walker, who thinks he’s a better tight end than Rob Gronkowski
