AROUND THE WEB:
-- Mike Francesa is set to make his return to WFAN after only five months of retirement, it was revealed Tuesday.
Many media members reacted to the move, including Francesa’s former longtime radio partner, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.
Russo said Francesa looks like a “horse’s fanny” for returning after going through a long goodbye tour last year.
“When you retire, you retire,” Russo said, saying he learned that from Francesa. “... You can’t do a long goodbye because if you do a long goodbye it gets a little tedious, number one, and number two is you do that and then all of a sudden you change your mind in five or six months you’re going to look like a horse’s ass.”
“You’re 45 years of age, let it roll off your back,” Russo said of Carlin. “That’s completely out of line. I don’t care. It didn’t bother me … Mike didn’t feel that way.”
WFAN said on Tuesday the station is having “ongoing discussions” with Francesa about a return.
“We are very proud of our current lineup at WFAN and that any potential future engagement with Mike will not result in any talent departures,” WFAN said in a statement.
“It’s time to return to WFAN,” Francesa said Tuesday and referred cryptically to a “campaign” to keep him from returning to the station.
He was due to serve two to four years but a court granted him bail due to "credibility" concerns of a witness.
