-- A fight broke out at Browns training camp on Tuesday between Jarvis Landry and Terrance Mitchell after Mitchell tried to punch the ball out of Landry’s hands and Landry threw the ball at Mitchell’s helmet.
It started when Landry caught a short pass from Tyrod Taylor and Mitchell tried to hit it out of his hands, knocking Landry to the ground. Then Mitchell stepped over Landry, dragging his foot over Landry’s back.
All in all this should make for some good Hard Knocks material.
-- The University of Maryland has accepted the “legal and moral responsibility for the mistakes" made by its athletic training staff at a workout in May that led to the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair.
The university’s president, Wallace D. Loh, made the announcement on Tuesday and said he and athletic director Damon Evans visited McNair's family in Baltimore "to express on behalf of the university our apology for the loss of their son."
McNair later died on June 13.
In his written statement, Loh said, “We will do everything within our power to ensure that no University of Maryland student-athlete is ever again put in a situation where his or her safety and life are at foreseeable risk.”
