-- Some Lakers fans were upset on Tuesday when they showed up to the pizza party LeBron James promoted and James was nowhere to be found.
James is an investor in Blaze pizza and broke his long Twitter silence on Monday to tweet about an upcoming party thrown by the restaurant to celebrate his new contract with the Lakers (and still didn't follow Jayson Tatum on Twitter).
Haven't been to a pizza party in a minute -- Culver City? ---- https://t.co/1QxgALyekK
— LeBron James (@KingJames) July 9, 2018"Haven't been to a pizza party in a minute Culver City?," James tweeted about the event and some fans thought this meant he would appear at the Blaze in Culver City for the event.
People lined up in droves hoping to see James but he never showed up.
As a lifelong fan of pizza and of LeBron James' performance in Trainwreck I have volunteered to go down to the Culver City Blaze pizza where is he supposedly going to make an appearance pic.twitter.com/SqHz1FLY1O
— Mia Galuppo (@miagaluppo) July 10, 2018This is the line outside the Blaze pizza right now. pic.twitter.com/YFo6IKTdK5
— Mia Galuppo (@miagaluppo) July 10, 2018An hour before @KingJames is set to show up to @BlazePizza event, the line wraps around the corner, through the parking lot, and all the way down the block. Unsure if people are here to meet LeBron or for the free pizza. Will update. pic.twitter.com/PK67xAYnTl
— Danny Heifetz (@Danny_Heifetz) July 10, 2018So LeBron James really is going to be at a pizza party in Culver City. The line goes around the block and then some. pic.twitter.com/3Wg7q4M93i
— Joe Lago (@joelago) July 10, 2018Some thought they even saw LeBron at one point but it was a false alarm.
LeBron https://t.co/3sHQbjTmjC
— Joe Lago (@joelago) July 10, 2018"It's 5:00. The free pizza event at @BlazePizza is over. LeBron is not here. The 'line' has turned into a mob around the front door. People are hungry. People are upset. People are asking, 'Why?'" Danny Heifetz tweeted.
Bold marketing strategy by LeBron to get people to show up but this isn't going to help if he wants to get fans to like him more.

— ᴍᴀᴛᴛ ᴊᴀᴍᴇs (@_Matt_James_) July 11, 2018QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I still love the game. I'm still passionate about it. Things that people don't necessarily like, or that the players don't like, still make it a great game because we're talking about it. I feel emotional toward it. If I didn't care I would say it doesn't matter. People obviously care because they are talking about it and writing about it." -- Rick Porcello, on baseball not being boring for baseball players
