The NHL Department of Player Safety came down with its verdict Sunday just in time for the Bruins' game at Detroit.
Defenseman Jeremy Lauzon was suspended two games for his illegal check to the head Saturday on Arizona Coyotes center Derek Stepan.

Lauzon, though, was assessed a match penalty and the Bruins allowed one goal to the Coyotes during the ensuing five-minute major penalty.
In the second period Lawson Crouse of the Coyotes hit Charlie McAvoy in a similar manner in the head, but he was just assessed a two-minute minor penalty. He did not have a hearing with the NHL DOPS.
The Bruins went on to win 4-2 and extend their winning streak to six games.
With Lauzon out, the Bruins called up Urho Vaakanainen from Providence of the American Hockey League. Vaakanainen has four goals and eight assists in 42 games for the P-Bruins this season. He has no points in five games in the NHL this season.
