Why Brad Marchand was surprised David Krejci was injured by Riley Nash

Brad Marchand was a little surprised to see how former Bruins teammate and current Columbus Blue Jackets forward Riley Nash played in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference second round on Thursday.

Nash, known more as a crafty player with the Bruins 2016-18, had four hits in the Bruins' 3-2 overtime win.

"I don't think he had a hit in two years with us," Marchand said Friday on a day off before Game 2. "So obviously everybody's bought into their system and the way they play."

Unfortunately for the Bruins, one of Nash's hits may have contribute to injuring Boston center David Krejci, who didn't play the last couple minutes of regulation or at all in overtime

His status is up in the air for Game 2 on Saturday.

"David came in today. He'll continue to be listed as day-to-day," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said Friday. "So we'll see how he is tomorrow, we'll let you know in the morning whether he's in or out, or the warmup, could be a game-time decision."

If Krejci can't play, the Bruins can move Charlie Coyle, who scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in Game 1, up a line, and put Sean Kuraly in Coyle's old spot. That leaves open a lineup spot for rookie Karson Kuhlman or veteran David Backes.
