If how enthusiastic a player celebrates his teammates’ success is a measure of how much of a team player that guy is, then Jake DeBrusk is probably the leader in that department in the Bruins’ dressing room.
So McAvoy had no problem with DeBrusk’s impersonating a large puppy that doesn’t know its own size.
“That was awesome. He hugged and I just told him I loved him. He was on top … I was just so happy and you could tell how happy he was and everybody,” McAvoy said.
Coach Bruce Cassidy, once he was certain no one was hurt, was pleased at the sign that the Bruins’ chemistry continues to remain sky high.
“Yeah, they’re happy for [McAvoy>. I mean listen, they realize Charlie plays a lot of important minutes for us and it doesn’t matter what player, you’re always happy when you kind of get off that zero,” Cassidy said. “So a little more for Charlie because it’s dragged on probably more than we all thought it would. And then as you know Jake was first on the scene, he’s an emotional guy. And you’re a little bit worried, there’s a lot going on down there. But good for him, and like I said, it was probably a relief for Charlie.”
