Bruins general manager Don Sweeney waited nearly until the 3 p.m. Monday NHL trade deadline, but he eventually secured the scoring winger he thinks will complete his top-six forward group for the stretch run.
The Bruins confirmed Monday afternoon that they acquired 28-year-old forward Marcus Johansson from the New Jersey Devils for a second-round pick in 2019 and a fourth-round pick in 2020. Johansson, who has a cap hit just north of $4.5 million, is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. The Devils will retain 40 percent of his remaining salary as part of the deal.

Last season he had five goals and nine assists in 29 games before his season was ended by a concussion caused by a Brad Marchand elbow to the head. We'll find out more later about Sweeney's decision to put Johansson and Marchand in the same dressing room.
