Zdeno Chara's jaw had multiple fractures after Brayden Schenn's shot deflected off Chara's stick into his face.
Two days after having plates and wires inserted into his mouth, Chara was back in the Bruins lineup for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against St. Louis. Amazingly Chara was also battling a "lower-body" injury that kept him out of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final against Carolina and might require work once he's done with all his tests and scans.
But as expected he wasn't the only Bruins player fighting through injury up until the final horn of the 4-1 loss in Game 7 of the Cup Final. Here's a quick list of who was dealing with what:
Brad Marchand
The left wing said he was fighting some groin and abdominal issues, and he had sprained his hand at some point and reaggravated it during the Bruins' pre-Cup Final scrimmage.
David Pastrnak
After missing time in the regular season because of thumb surgery, Pastrnak came back late in the regular season. But he it never felt 100 percent and after it got hit in the Columbus series it wasn't the same. He said it didn't affect his shot, except for some one-timers.
Patrice Bergeron
For the third straight year Bergeron finished the season with a groin injury. This one occurred in the East final, and it won't require surgery.
John Moore
The veteran defenseman had a broken humerus, a long bone between the elbow joint and the shoulder, suffered when he was hit against Tampa Bay on March 25. He's going to need surgery and could be out as long as six months.
Noel Acciari
The forward fractured his sternum in the second round against Columbus. He said he had to make sure he was breathing properly and that he didn't lift his arm certain ways while he was playing through it. Also he blocked a shot in Game 7 against the Blues and his right foot is in a walking boot.
Kevan Miller
The defenseman was injured April 4 and did not make it back for the postseason. He had a fractured knee and also a torn oblique. He's not sure if he'll be ready for the start of the season.
Chris Wagner
