The Red Sox offense has continued its recent trend of fluctuating between hot and cold streaks over the past few games, but one bright spot has been the return of Xander Bogaerts, who was activated from the 10-day disabled list on Friday. Bogaerts was batting .368 with two home runs and nine RBIs prior to missing 15 games with an ankle injury.

Bogaerts returned to the lineup on Friday and went 3-for-4 on the day with one double. He then went 1-for-4 on Saturday against the Rays with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. After getting the day off on Sunday, Bogaerts returned to the lineup against the Royals on Monday and went 3-for-5 with a grand slam. The shortstop hit a bomb that exited near the top of the light tower above the Green Monster to give the Red Sox a 6-3 lead. The grand slam by Bogaerts was his second of the season and the sixth total grand slam for the Red Sox this season.

Thanks in part to Bogaerts swinging the lumber, Monday night’s 10-6 win over the Royals was the first time the Red Sox offense posted double-digit runs in a game since April 17.
