As the majority of us expected, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety as a consequence of the hit he laid on Columbus forward Josh Anderson in the second period of the Bruins' Game 6 win last night.
The hit stirred up plenty of discussion and although Anderson was shaken up on the play, he did return to the game in the third period. Now the Bruins await the fate of one of their most important players to start the Eastern Conference Finals against the Carolina Hurricanes.
McAvoy has scored a goal and added five assists in 13 playoff games so far, on top of some really solid three-zone play overall. His potential absence in the lineup due to a suspension would certainly be felt.
