Friday's Mashup: Enes Kanter, the quarantine entertainment you didn't know you needed

Top 'O the Friday to ya! You've survived all week so you can survive all weekend. Who's ready to rock?

Well, any day you get invited back to the party is a good day as far as we're concerned. So, to get things started here's some fun as you recover from your quarantine hangover having celebrated Belichick's 68th birthday AND the 20th anniversary of Brady to the Pats. Can't help but love how forever intertwined those two are.

BROADCAST HIGHLIGHT

The 2011 Bruins Postseason Encore 2011 Stanley Cup Final Game 4: Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks - 8:30 p.m., NESN (a good old-fashioned Stanley Cup Final ass-kicking should fill your hockey soul's hole for the time being).

WHOSE JOB IS IT ANYWAY?

Boston sports was abuzz Thursday with the @RapSheet news that the Patriots are expected to use a priority pick next Thursday on a QB, and that Hoyer is likely to be the starter for a while. While I can see Hoyer having to start the season due to camps and OTAs being limited, I can't imagine they put the time and faith they have into Stidham only to give him the no-confidence vote of a high QB draft pick. I call Fake Foxborough News! Or at least a state media reality check to make sure Stidham knows it's earned, not given.

And if you're looking for the latest local perspective on how the Pats will approach the 2020 Draft, or just wanna take your personal draft board and shake it like a snowglobe, our Andy Hart has a four-rounder you'll want to check out. Of course, knowing Belichick none of this will happen. Getting a Pats draft pick right is like getting Best Animated Short right in your Oscar pool; impossible!

THE FOXBORO FELLINI

Vegas has released their win totals for the 2020 season, and they have the Patriots at 8.5 wins, their lowest projection since the 2003 season. You know, when they came back from a Super Bowl hangover, got shutout in the opener in Buffalo by Bledsoe and Lawyer Milloy, then went 17-1 the rest of the way en route to a Super Bowl victory. Maybe I'm biased (I am), but in spite of all the change this offseason I'll take the over, please and thank you.

FOLLOW FRIDAY

Enes Kanter has been great, or better than Ordway advertised, on the court. When healthy. And when there have been live sports. But he's been an even better follow on IG, especially during the quarantine. For those looking to stay fit be sure to check out his homemade treadmill video. And this one is too easy, too good.

Also - movie mavens and film freaks should rejoice at this discovery; 60 Second Classics. It's the tongue-in-cheek retro content you needed before, and now more than ever.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

While rumors are there will be a slightly modified uniform for the Patriots sometime soon, we won't be seeing any tweaks to the logo. HOWEVER, did you hear about the proposed logo change, from Pat the Patriot to this atrocity, and the fan "vote" that shit it down? Hilarious. Kinda makes me wish we voted on everything like this.

In 1979, the Patriots asked the fans to vote if they should change the "Pat Patriot" logo to this awful logo. The vote occurred during halftime of a game where someone held a sign with this logo and the applause or boos would decide. Thankfully, the stadium reigned with boos. pic.twitter.com/Om2u9E9CmZ

And though this is a sour note for Bruins fans (it's been over 40 years, so the statute of bereavement limitations should be lifted), this video from Super 70's Sports (also a must-follow on Twitter) of the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals handshake line is everything 70's and "way we used to and never will be again" gold.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

The world, and World Wrestling Entertainment, lost one of its unique voices Thursday with the passing of the great Howard Finkel. Howard was the ringside announcer of many an epic showdown...the matches your dad took you to see at the original Boston Garden (saw Macho Man defeat Tito Santana for the Intercontinental Championship back in 1986, unforgettable), all the main events. An unmistakable voice of hype, if you heard Howard call for "Ricky the Dragon Steeeaaammmboat" you knew something big was coming. RIP.

His voice ingrained in the memories of so many; a representative of our childhood; loveable, affable, unique, and the greatest ring announcer of all time. There will never be anyone like Howard Finkel. pic.twitter.com/83qvTr1NZ1

BECAUSE YOU NEED THIS

Of all the quarantine sports videos this might be the simplest and sweetest to date. And before you say, "But social distancing!" remember they live there together. And got game!
