Tuesday's Mashup: Thankfully Brady refutes McDaniels friction

Happy Tuesday! Or should I say, "Tom Tuesday!" Because Brady seems to be in the New England news cycle as much if not more than when he actually played for the Patriots. And this has nothing to do with Monday's other Brady news of his signing the letter in support in the Ahmaud Arbery case. Or his new WR1, Mike Evans, talking about how Brady will change the Buccaneers franchise. Or NFL Network's Nate Burleson saying the 2020 Buccaneers offense will be the best Brady's ever played with. Seriously, that's a whale of a news dump for someone who doesn't play for any of our local teams anymore. Then again, he's Tom Brady.

No, this was about Monday's report from renouned football scribe Gary Myers that Brady's deteriorating relationship with Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was a primary reason for TB12's departure from Foxboro.

Hard to present an order of why Tom Brady didn't want to return to Patriots. But one thing has been very much overlooked, according to an excellent source: His deteriorating relationship with OC Josh McDaniels. Tom was worn out by Josh after all these years. That surprised me.

The story made the rounds quickly, being a primary discussion point on OMF and beyond, both locally and nationally. Brady, who preaches that he ignores the noise, heard an echo of the accusation, and took to his favorite platform, Instagram, to defend his former OC and their relationship.

I’m posting this twice - once for Brady and once for McDaniels - so we can push past the fake news, appreciate what was great and move on. I’m more apt to believe Brady than second hand fake news.

And can I just add..thank goodness. Not that I needed the depth and sanctity of the TB/McD relationship to endure in pristine fashion. I'm just tired of Fake Foxboro News. Of slings and arrows. Of second hand hearsay about why the relationship(s) at the core of the greatest run in football history didn't endure. It's over! Anyone who's ever been in a long-term relationship knows they come with ups and downs, happiness and frustration, beginnings and ends. This one also happened to come with SUPER BOWL WINS. And McDaniels was a chief component to three of them. And around for more. We all saw "Do Your Job". We know they Brady & McDaniels had a very fraternal relationship. Who works with someone closely for over a decade and/or considers them a brother and doesn't want to strangle them sometimes? Come on now! Enough with people picking at wounds or looking for reasons why it's over. Everything ends! And while the ending wasn't perfect just about everything else was. I could go on, but there are a few other things to share.

Yeah, these guys totally were #doneski with each other.

BROADCAST HIGHLIGHT

2001 World Series: Arizona Diamondbacks vs New York Yankees, 8 p.m., ESPN

From a World Series, a sporting event, for the ages, with emotions riding higher than ever...this game, which fans voted for on ESPN.com, earned Derek Jeter the nickname "Mr November" as it began on Halloween night but ended after midnight on Nov 1st

YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?

Someone get a Carvel cake for Johnny Bucyk, Bruins legend and a member of the “100 Greatest NHL Players in History”, who turns 85 years young today. Hockey players are old souls naturally, 85 is the new 35 to us.

BECAUSE YOU NEED THIS

Usually we favor something lighthearted, uplifting or gentle comedic in this space. Instead today we're going with footage of Mike Tyson hitting the pads like they stole something from him. Listen, if at age 53 he can really hit like this, can move like Foreman did during his comeback and UFC can isolate and test to deliver live sports at least of a man vs man combative kind? Hey, take my money please! And I know I'm not the only one who'd fork over some stimulus check to see the Tyson comeback begin.
