WELL, BASEBALL...

Seriously, guys. What are we doing? The NHL announced on Tuesday they have a plan. With a recofigured playoff tournament involving TWENTY FOUR TEAMS. The NBA announced they're close to a single venue return to action in late July. The NFL has said they're planning on games, with fans, on time, this fall! And yes baseball, the sport with the least amlunt of physical contact, whose gameplay and alignment is largely predicated on social distancing, can't figure out what to do or how to return, and for how long. Logisitics, salary arguments, Blake Snell...too many why nots, not enough here's how. Owners accused of being greedy. Players accused of being needy. Confusion and a pandemic clouding what should be a triumphant return of America's Pasttime to a nation in need of live sports. It's nothing short of a long emotional rain delay, with a bad forecast, players that don't want to get wet, and a crowd huddled underneath the stands, tired of eating overpriced concessions, anxious to see baseball again. Let's see if baseball can get it done during what's been called a critical week for MLB 2020.

MLB proposed cuts to the highest-paid players in baseball in its first economic proposal to the players Tuesday. Players in turn bristled at the proposal. There is a significant gap between what the league offered and what the players want. News at ESPN: https://t.co/1ZUgA01MNU

WE NEED BASEBALL BECAUSE...

Even if this is impossible, or illegal, in a Major League game, still pretty amazing. But that's why we want them to play! Also we're bored with old games.

Also, if you can't replicate that swing, how about being nostalgic for your favorite all-time? Can you imitate it? This thread has so many great ones, from the Sox and all MLB. I always loved Nomar. And my retro fave was Joe Morgan. Yes, I know he broke Boston hearts in 1975, but that chicken wing flap was legend.

And finally, could any other sports pull off this look? Again, baseball, COME BACK!

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"And now there's a steal by Bird! Underneath to DJ. He lays it in! And Boston has a one-point lead right with one second to go!" - The late, great Johnny Most, legendary radio voice of the Celtics, calling the famous steal by Bird that lead to the game-winning basket in Game 5 of the 1087 Eastern Conference Finals, which happened Larry Bird years and a day ago on this day
