When the Celtics drafted Romeo Langford No. 14 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, the team was aware of the surgically repaired ligament in his right thumb (having torn it in the middle of his one season at Indiana). Although he did drills with the team leading up to and during NBA Summer League, Langford was unable to play in actual games.

Based on Langford's comments to Tom Westerholm of MassLive, the extra rest, combined his current rehab routine, is getting the job done. Because he's now saying his hand is "basically" back to normal.
"I haven't haven't done any contact still, but I'm going against coaches and stuff like that," Langford said. "But I haven't gone live against defenders."
If his hand is where it needs to be, the attention now turns to his shot. Can he develop into more of a threat, or will his offense solely come from his looks at the rim? He can get to the hoop easily, but teams will eventually adapt if Langford is a one-dimensional offensive player.
