The Celtics' turnaround from last year to this year has been a complete 180. They went from a contender at the start of 2018-19 to a pretender, to now where they've swung things back in the right direction again.
A large part of that has to do with the development of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The former is developing into a superstar while the latter has played like an NBA All-Star, even though he wasn't named one this season.
"The future, I think — you don't want to always talk about future and hanging there — but we all know, everybody that watches basketball land that fans in Boston know, that we've got upside with these guys," Celtics governor Wyc Grousbeck said on "Extra Sauce." "Jaylen and Jayson have come into their own."
But Grousbeck didn't stop at Boston's two young wings.
"We've added Kemba (Walker) who is just (a) breath of fresh air, in terms of just incredible — (an) All-Star starter but with world-class personality and leadership," he said.
Now, Boston's last All-Star point guard did not come up in the conversation, but, as always, it's easy to notice the difference in the way Walker is talked about versus his predecessor, Kyrie Irving. Especially in a week where there's been a change at the head coach position for Irving's current team — Kenny Atkinson and the Brooklyn Nets mutually parted ways on Saturday.
