A day after Marcus Smart made NBA All-Defensive First Team, Kyrie Irving has been named All-NBA Second Team. Irving is joined by Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, Warriors forward Kevin Durant, Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard and Sixers center Joel Embiid.
Like the NBA All-Defensive Teams, the All-NBA selection process is a point-based system voted on by 100 writers and broadcasters. Irving finished 10th overall in the voting with 195 points, fourth among guards to narrowly edge out Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook (178 points).
This is the second time Irving has received All-NBA recognition in his career. He was also named All-NBA Third Team in 2015.
Congrats KI!! No brainer on the All NBA selection.
