With Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown sidelined for Saturday's game, Marcus Smart did everything he could to will the Celtics to a win over the Suns. It didn't work out in the end, but he still went off for a career-high 37 points.
Smart did most of his scoring from behind the arc. Well, that's putting it mildly. Smart scored 33 of his 37 points from the perimeter.
That's right, Marcus Smart drilled 11 3-pointers on Saturday — on 22 attempts.
In doing so, Smart now holds the record for most 3-pointers in a single game by a Celtics player. The previous record (nine) was held by Isaiah Thomas (December 30, 2016 vs. Miami) and Antoine Walker (twice).
Marcus Smart hit 11 three-pointers for the Celtics at TD Garden tonight, but they fell to the Suns, 123-119.It's the first time in NBA history a player has made 11+ threes at home and lost.
