The Celtics have now been linked to four players leading up to the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline: Detroit’s Andre Drummond, Washington’s Davis Bertans, Oklahoma City’s Danilo Gallinari, and Houston’s Clint Capela. Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated is also reporting Boston has discussed Cleveland’s Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson internally.
Additionally, Mannix's report indicates the Celtics continue to have a “strong interest” in Bertans.
Of the aforementioned forwards, Bertans should be the easiest to acquire. He’s cheap (2019-20 salary is $7 million). He’s on an expiring deal. To top it all off, the Wizards are the No. 10 team in the East at 17-32.
But there’s one significant problem: getting rid of Bertans wouldn’t bode well for Bradley Beal’s future with the Wizards. So it won’t be easy for the Celtics to pry the Latvian Laser from Washington.
