The Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox were recognized on Forbes’ “The World’s 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams 2019” list, each cracking the top-25.
The Patriots set the tone in New England with the highest value ($3.8 billion) and largest operating income ($235 million). They are seventh overall on the list in terms of value and rank second among NFL franchises behind the Cowboys ($5 billion), who rank first overall. However, the Patriots rank third overall in operating income, behind only the Cowboys ($365 million) and Manchester United ($238 million).
The Red Sox are tied with the Rams a No. 12 overall in terms of value ($3.2 billion). However, the Celtics, who are valued at $2.8 billion (tied at 22nd with the Texans), have a larger operating income than Boston’s baseball team ($100 million vs. $84 million).
The Red Sox rank third in value among all MLB teams, trailing the Yankees ($4.6 billion, No. 2 overall) and Dodgers ($3.3 billion, tied-No. 10 overall). But the Red Sox outrank the Yankees in operating income ($30 million for New York), as do the Dodgers ($95 million), Cubs ($87 million), San Franciso Giants ($84 million), and St. Louis Cardinals ($65 million).
The Celtics rank fifth among NBA teams in value and are sixth in operating income.
