Patriots weren't the only team interested in Antonio Brown after Oakland release

It shouldn't shock anyone the Patriots received a load of criticism after signing Antonio Brown. Nor should it come as a surprise that any other team who was interested in the wide receiver hasn't been under fire in the same capacity — i.e. the Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday both the Seahawks and Browns were interested in ex-Raider before he agreed to a deal with the Patriots.

Among those teams were the Browns and Seahawks, whose QB @DangeRussWilson enjoyed working with @AB84 when they were with respective teams. Common theme: Steelers. The Seahawks at Pittsburgh next week. Browns in same AFC North division

On Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Seattle was interested in Brown during an appearance on 710 ESPN Seattle

"We try to be involved in every single opportunity, and we were involved in that one, yeah," Carroll said. "Just like we have been in everything that comes down the pipe. … we were ready for something if something was there."

The ex-Patriots head coach also confirmed the Seahawks will always go after top-tier players like Brown when they become available.

"You guys can count on us always doing that," he said. "That's how we do it."

Wonder if Tony Dungy is disappointed in Carroll, too.
