Red Sox Farm Report: Bobby Dalbec hitting his stride, goes yard for Sea Dogs

Bobby Dalbec went nuclear on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) in Double-A Portland’s 3-1 win on Wednesday. The Red Sox top-ranked prospect according to Baseball America went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored on his two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, which gave the Sea Dogs the lead to complete the come from behind win.

Dalbec’s dinger wasn’t a wall-scraper either. Estimated at 382 feet, the 6’4” third baseman’s bomb clocked in at 106.6 miles per hour off the bat. It’s Dalbec’s first home run since April 22, his third on the year.

Although he’s been on a bit of a dry spell when it comes to the long ball, the 23-year-old has been hot of late. Now in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, he’s boosted his average from .189 on May 3 to .228. Even through the rough times, there have only been two games all season where Dalbec didn’t reach via a walk or hit.

Dalbec also linked with Dustin Pedroia on one defensive play, who only had one other defensive play on the day, sliding for a grounder up the middle to make the final out in the sixth.

Pedroia also went 1-for-3 at the plate and scored the Sea Dogs first run of the game.
