The hottest Red Sox prospect of 2019 continues to draw attention. After destroying pitching with Class A Advanced Salem to the tune of a .387 average and a .998 OPS through 50 games, Jarren Duran finally got his promotion.

The 2018 seventh-rounder made his debut for Double-A Portland in Tuesday’s 5-2 with over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants). Duran led off and started in center field for the Sea Dogs. He got his first Double-A hit in his second at-bat of the game, a single to center in the fifth. He also walked and scored a run in his 1-for-3 performance.

Johnson made another appearance in Pawtucket

Brian Johnson got the start in Triple-A Pawtucket’s 7-5 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) on Tuesday. He pitched three innings in his rehab appearance — which is likely by design — and took a step in the right direction. Johnson only gave up one run on a solo shot. Outside of that, he held the IronPigs to one other hit and two walks. He also had one strikeout.

Johnson hasn’t been dominant by any means as he’s rehabbed in the farm system. But Tuesday’s outing was, without question, an improvement where he’s been throughout most of the process.
