Kyle Hart made about as good of a first impression as he could have in Triple-A Pawtucket’s 4-0 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) on Thursday. The left-hander struck out eight, gave up five hits and didn’t walk anyone in his complete game shutout. Hart’s win also happened the first nine-inning shutout in all of Triple-A in 2019.

No Triple-A pitcher has thrown a nine-inning shutout this season. Until Kyle Hart was promoted, that is. The #RedSox hurler twirled a -- in his @PawSox debut!--: https://t.co/C0ZV63RERK pic.twitter.com/qKgaq9y1zj

Though, this isn’t the first bit of success Hart has experienced this season. Despite his 3-6 record with Double-A Portland, Hart posted a 2.91 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and struck out 60 over 55 2/3 innings.

He’s even managed to impress former Red Sox closer Keith Foulke:

He’s Good

Reyes logs another scoreless outing

Red Sox pitching prospect Denyi Reyes only gave up one hit and two walks throughout his six-inning performance in Double-A Portland’s 3-2 loss to the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies) on Thursday. The righty struck out five and, for the second time in as many outings, didn’t give up a run.

Reyes has gone six innings in each of his last two outings and not given up a run on either occasion. His streak of scoreless innings (16) reaches back to his May 19 start, where he followed up a one-run first inning with four scoreless frames.

Brian Johnson made his third appearance on the mound for Portland in Thursday’s game, his fourth overall rehab appearance since starting back up on May 15. Johnson gave up two runs on four hits in two innings of work. He’s only had one scoreless outing in his four rehab appearances.
