Marco Hernandez made the jump from Class A Advanced Salem to Triple-A Pawtucket on May 18 and struggled initially. He had a .267 average (4-for-15) with a home run and a stolen base through his four contests, but all of his offense came in one game, Hernandez’s third with the PawSox.

Now, he’s in the middle of a six-game hitting streak where he’s batting .435 (10-for-23). Outside of Monday’s 1-for-3 performance in the PawSox 7-3 loss to the Rochester Red Wings (Twins), Hernandez has an extra-base hit in each game (four doubles and one home run).

Hernandez is hitting .368 with a 1.007 OPS through 10 games with the PawSox. He’s also played second base in five of his last six performances. The one exception was the second game of Friday’s doubleheader against Rochester when he was the designated hitter.

Adam Lau threw two shutout innings on Monday. He’s struck out five between his first two appearances with Pawtucket, but Lau has also walked five — four of which came in his first performance.

Casas’ average continues to rise

Triston Casas entered May with a .208 average, six doubles and two home runs. Through Class A Greenville’s 6-4 win over the Augusta GreenJackets (Giants) on Monday, Casas has hit seven doubles, six home runs and is batting .329 (27-for-82) with a 1.042 in May. His strong play through 24 games this month has bumped his season average up to .270, while his OPS stands at .853 after ending April at .648.
