Triple-A Pawtucket had its first home game of the 2019 season on Thursday. Why’s that worth noting? You would think it’s because the team’s days in Pawtucket are numbered, or that Sandy Leon, Sam Travis, Bobby Poyner, and Tony Renda received their World Series rings. Nope, not the case.

April 12, 2019 Sandy Leon continues to struggle at the plate. He’s gone hitless since the first game of the season, going 0-for-13 over his last three games played.
Jenrry Mejia struck out three over 1 1/3 innings in relief. He’s now 3-for-4 in save opportunities with a 1.69 ERA.
Bryan Mata remains in control for Greenville
Top-10 Red Sox prospect Bryan Mata posted 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the Greenville Drive in Thursday’s 3-2 loss. The right-hander struck out eight Frederick Keys hitters, only walked one and gave up four hits.
Through two starts, Mata has gone 11 innings, struck out 11 and given up one run (earned), eight hits and a walk.
The 19-year old may be a few years away, but his precision at this level and age is promising for the Red Sox.
