By Michael Chavis’ standards, it’s been a while since the 23-year-old had an extra-base hit. Of course, his last one was a home run — his 10th of the season — which came in Boston’s 6-5 win against Toronto on May 22. Chavis has another chance to go yard in Wednesday’s game against the Indians, where he’ll bat seventh and start at first base against Indians right-hander Shane Bieber with Mitch Moreland being sent to the 10-day injured list prior to the finale of the three-game series.
Brock Holt will be to Chavis' right, at second base, and bat one slot ahead. Andrew Benintendi will get things started for the Sox after not playing in Tuesday’s loss.
Here’s the Red Sox lineup Bieber will face while working opposite righty Ryan Weber:
Andrew Benintendi LF
Mookie Betts RF
Rafael Devers 3B
J.D. Martinez DH
Xander Bogaerts SS
Brock Holt 2B
Michael Chavis 1B
Jackie Bradley CF
Christian Vazquez C
