Although Team USA was eliminated from medal contention following the loss to France on Wednesday, they still have a game on Thursday against Serbia. And it looks like they’ll have to play without Marcus Smart.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Smart wanted to play, but Team USA made the call to shut him down since the Celtics guard has dealt with calf tightness and a quad strain since joining the team.

Marcus Smart underwent X-rays on a left knuckle injury this week that came back negative, but soreness in the hand along with quad/calf soreness led to the decision to shut him down. https://t.co/bWfGsLBdqW
