The Celtics will have the reigning G League Player of the Month, Tremont Waters, at their disposal on Christmas.

The point guard has put together an impressive season and caught the attention of opposing teams early in his professional career. But the Celtics aren't calling up the two-way player to keep him in Boston permanently.

"They're super small and fast. Like, super fast." Bard Stevens said about the Raptors, who are without Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol, along with Norman Powell. "They press. They play zone defense. … So that would be the game where we need more ball handlers and more skill."

Normally, the Celtics might not need Waters, but Marcus Smart is still sidelined due to his eye infection. Though, the veteran guard is finally starting to feel better and is back on the court.

"(Smart) won't play tomorrow, but this is good trying to get him back at it," Stevens said. "Our goal is that he would play sometime before the end of the year. Hopefully, get in enough workouts and practices that he can do that."

In addition to Smart, Tacko Fall has been added to the list of inactive Celtics for Christmas — Robert Williams (left hip bone edema) and Vincent Poirier (right pinky fracture) being the others. Fall being inactive is a result of the matchups Toronto presents and the fact he has a limited number of days he can be with the Celtics.
