In the course of the Celtics' attempt to bounce back from Al Horford's departure from the roster, one of the post players Boston reportedly acquired was Vincent Poirier. The 6-foot-11 25-year-old played in the NBA Summer League in 2017 for the Magic and again last summer for the Nets, but did not get an NBA deal. Instead, Poirier continued his career overseas, playing most recently for Baskonia in Spain's top league, Liga ACB.

With the C's also acquiring Enes Kanter, who will primarily contribute offensively and on the glass, Poirier is expected to help Boston as a defensive big.

On Monday, the Celtics officially announced they've signed the French import.

Prior to the signing, Poirier took to Instagram to talk about joining the NBA and a franchise he has immense respect for.

"Today, I realize my dream by joining the NBA and the mythical franchise of the Boston Celtics," he wrote on his Instagram story. "I have a great though for my family, my friends and relatives, but especially for my father who I know looks at me from the above.

"I am really looking forward to starting my NBA history."
