For the next three weeks, the Celtics will be without Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier. Williams has a bone edema in his left hip, and now Poirier is out for approximately six weeks. He fractured his right pinkie finger at practice on Monday.
“I think (this) is a chance to work hard and get back stronger,” Poirier said when asked if the injury was even more disheartening given the opportunity he might have received with Williams out.
With those two injured, the Celtics are down to Enes Kanter and Daniel Theis as their true bigs. This means Grant Williams will have to play the five a bit.
This also puts Tacko Fall in line to get some time.
“I don’t know if we’re going to call him up yet for sure, but that’s been the discussion,” Brad Stevens said.
The only reason there’s any level of apprehension when it comes to calling Fall up is the big man has a limited number of days he can be with Boston. As a two-way player, Fall is only allowed 45 with the Celtics.
