Wyc Grousbeck has a gold medal-winning tequila brand with Michael Jordan

Wyc Grousbeck has something of a dynasty going, though it's not with the brand Boston Celtics fans might prefer.

Grousbeck is trying his luck in the alcohol business with his wife, Emilia Fazzalari, Michael Jordan, Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens and Lakers governor Jeanie Buss. Specifically, tequila.

According to Grousbeck, Fazzalari — who is also the brand's CEO — and Jordan were the tasting team for the group's joint venture. Before naming it Cincoro, the group made 1,000-plus tequilas in secret for three years as they worked to find the flavor they like.

In the process, the tequila won 15 gold and platinum medals at spirits competitions, including best in show, double-gold at the San Francisco Worlds Fair Competition (the most prestigious spirits competition in the world, according to Grousbeck).

Grousbeck described the experience of Cincoro following during an event at the Old Sandwich Golf Club on Monday.

"This tequila has a nose and a complexity to it like a bourdon or a rum or a scotch," the Celtics governor said. "Those are big things to say about a tequila, but I think you'll find it's true. Then the finish goes 45 or 60 seconds. This is an experience. It's to be shipped, not shot. No shooters. Have a sip and just enjoy. MJ's line was 'Chill and enjoy the moment.'"

As odd as that may seem, the strangest thing part of the whole situation is the fact two NBA governors, a co-owner and a chairman (Jordan), each from a different franchise, are somehow working together under one brand.

"I have a lot of respect for, of course, MJ, but that goes without saying. And I've known him now 16 years being in the league," Grousbeck said. "But Jeanie Buss is an example. We're the most bitter rivals in terms of franchises, but I respect her and we're friends. You know, ownership around the table, we're sort of (in a) joint venture. We own the league together, the ownership groups, the governors.

"We're trying to bring basketball to the world and now we're trying to bring tequila to the world."
