HOUSTON -- The Red Sox fell victim to a potentially pivotal blown call in the third inning of their Game 3 American League Championship Series game against the Astros Tuesday.
With the Red Sox carrying a 2-1 lead, J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts each drew two-out walks off Houston starter Dallas Keuchel. That led to Steve Pearce's long fly ball up against the left field wall.
Astros left fielder Tony Kemp lept and made what appeared to be a catch at the top of his jump, ending the inning. Red Sox manager Alex Cora immediately asked for a replay, suggesting the ball hit the ball before entering Kemp's glove. The out call was upheld, taking away what would have been at least one run from the visitors.
