HOUSTON -- Chris Sale may be seen throwing in the Red Sox' bullpen Tuesday during Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, but don't get the wrong idea. Sale is not going to be executing a repeat performance of his relief stint in Yankee Stadium.

Sale was expected to arrive in town after being hospitalized Sunday and Monday for a stomach illness. The appearance in the bullpen would be to simply prepare for his scheduled Game 5 start at Minute Maid Park.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora was unsure if Sale would be making the Thursday night start. If the lefty is unable to pitch some options would be Eduardo Rodriguez, David Price or a collection of relievers.

"We still think he can do it but obviously, we have to wait," said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. "Like I said yesterday, this is more than us, it's about him, how he feels. I'm not going to put him in a situation where he gets hurt because he's not ready to pitch."
